Google Hacks

Posted on in Blog

Google, whether we like it or not, is an integral part of our everyday lives. Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Hangouts, Google Reminders, Google Translate, Google Docs!  These are all words that are commonly used in our 2016 vocabulary. We wanted to explore some other features of Google so we rounded up some handy Google hacks for everyday life.

The search bar is your friend

This might seem like an obvious one, but the search function on Google does a LOT of cool stuff.

Flight search

Need to pick someone up from the airport? Just google their flight number and you’ll get a live look at the flight.

Set a timer

Can’t find a timer anywhere? Google has got your back! Simply type in “set time for_____ minutes” and you’re good to go:

Check the game score

Nowhere near a TV but still want to keep track of a score, just Google it!

Tip calculator

This everyday struggle is no more. Just type in “tip calculator,” set your percentage (FYI, it’s a minimum of 20%) and there’s the amount you owe. Paying the bill has never been easier:

Google Keep

Google Keep is a great tool to use if you want to jot down a note, but don’t have an easy way to do it. Grab your phone and either speak your thought into it or type out your note and it automatically goes into your phone. You can easily share lists and notes with other people and you can even check off each item in your grocery list in real time. Google Keep also syncs across your devices, so that losing notes is something that’s officially in the past. Check out more of Google Keeps features here.

Ways to play with Google

Google has created a lot of amazing ways to improve our day-to-day lives, but Google also likes to have fun:

  • Open Google. Type in “do a barrel roll.” Sit back and take it all in.
  • Type in “Google Gravity.” Check out what happens.
  • Play with (virtual) Legos. This is a pretty elaborate collaboration between Chrome and Lego. Complete different challenges or just build for the pure joy of building!
  • Check out the Google Doodles. Remember all those fun games that appear in the Google logo once a week and then you never see them again? Turns out they aren’t gone for an eternity! Find all the interactive Google Doodles here.

Conclusion

There’s a lot that Google has to offer, and although we don’t come close to the tip of the iceberg in this blog, the coolest part about Google is that they are constantly changing and innovating. We’re always keeping our eyes and ears out for any new and exciting projects coming from Google! Do you have a favorite Google hack? We would love to add it to the list!
