New Music Tuesday! My Top 10 in 2015

Posted on in Blog

For this installment of “New Music Tuesday” I thought I’d introduce you to ten new albums I’ve been listening to in 2015. There’s a little something for everyone, so take a few minutes to sample until you find something you like.

And if you have any music suggestions, please leave them in the comments! I love listening to new music – and would love your suggestions (of any genre).

1. The Decemberists – “What a Terrible World, What a Wonderful World”

I’ve been a fan of The Decemberists for awhile, and so this album is easily one of my favorites in 2015. No new ground is broken musically, but if you like the band you’ll like the album. Here is a video of the album’s first single, “Make You Better.”

2. Ryan Bingham – “Fear and Saturday Night”

A nice new album of Americana music. The following is a live version of the song “Nobody Knows My Trouble.”

3. Hey Rosetta! – “Second Sight”

I’ve always been a fan of Canadian bands no one seems to know about (ex. Matthew Good Band, The Weakerthans). Here’s a video for one of my favorite new songs, “Soft Offering (for the Oft Suffering)”

4. Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors – “Medicine”

A nice rock album from a Tennessee rock band. Take a few minutes to listen to “American Beauty.”

5. Ty Segall – “Mr. Face” EP

More fine music from the prolific and innovative Ty Segall. For a song that will get you moving and grooving, try “Mr. Face.”

6. Butch Walker – “Afraid of Ghosts”

I’m finding a groove with a certain type of rock music this year, and Butch Walker is another great example. Here are live versions of both “Chrissie Hynde” and “Father’s Day.”

7. Wardell – “Love/Idleness”

Wardell is comprised of Sasha and Theo Spielberg. Yes, the children of Steven Spielberg. And they’ve made some good indie folk music for your bad self. Here’s the video for “Funny Thing.”

8. Marian Hill – “Sway”

This electronic pop album grabbed me right away. Here is another one of my early 2015 favorite songs, “One Time.”

9. Ibeyi – “Ibeyi”

Ibeyi is the French-Cuban musical duo of twin sisters Lisa-Kaindé Diaz and Naomi Diaz. The following is the song “Oya.” I think you’ll like it.

10. Mark Ronson – “Uptown Funk” (ft. Bruno Mars)

Okay. This isn’t an album. But I am a massive sucker for pop music – and this song has been stuck in my head a lot. “Uptown funk gonna give it to ya!”

I hope you’ve enjoyed a sneak peak into what I’ve been listening to while working on great digital marketing projects, and perhaps you’ve found some new music to listen to as well!

Grace and Peace
