Ashley: Hi! Welcome to the Monday Marketing Minute. I’m Ashley Mugnolo.

Freddy: And I’m Freddy Hunt, and today we’re taking a minute to talk about some tips for working with an agency.

A: I can’t tell you how many times a client has come to us and they don’t have access to, or the knowledge of, simple things like their Google Analytics login, who they’re hosting their website with, or even ownership of their own URL. This can cause some big issues down the road when the time comes to switch agency partners or take your work in-house.

F: Yeah, so let’s talk about some ways to prevent problems like this from happening. First, you should always set up your own accounts for social media, analytics and other reporting or online tools. You should have ownership of these as the client and simply grant access to your partners as they need them. We don’t ever set up accounts for our clients, but we will help them set up the accounts for themselves.

A: And in most cases, you don’t even have to share login information, which helps with security. Facebook, for example, allows an agency to simply request access to your page via Facebook Business Manager.

F: You will also want to make sure that you keep an encrypted file or use a service like LastPass to store your login information. That way, if your team changes, you aren’t struggling to find the information for the next person.

A: So the big tip for the day is really just own your own things! That way you can bring it with you and all the historical data you have to whoever you decide to work with next.

F: Exactly, and that’s all the time we have for today. So, tune in next week for more tips and tricks from the digital world.
